Will My Dental Procedure Be Painful?

Posted on 12/10/2021 by Evan
Will My Dental Procedure Be Painful? Most people are afraid of going to a dentist because they are afraid of pain. Common procedures like tooth extraction and wisdom teeth surgery are perceived to be painful, but in reality, they are not because dentists usually use anesthetic injections to help you relax.

However, pain may occur after some procedures have been completed depending on how severe the situation was. For example, if the depth and size of your cavity are big, you may feel some pain after the procedure. Our dentists always ensure patients are very comfortable during the process. Therefore, there is nothing to be afraid of.

Swelling and Pain after a Dental Procedure

It is normal to feel swollen and uncomfortable after your dental procedure. Sometimes the pain and pressure will increase, but your dentist will give you some drugs to help ease the pain. The pain you experience afterward is always considered a good thing as it shows that you are healing.

When in this stage, it is important to follow your doctor's prescription to avoid infections in your mouth and recover quickly.

How Long Will the Pain Last After the Procedure

There are several types of pain you may experience after your dental procedure, including pulpitis, jaw muscle fatigue, dry socket pain, or soft tissue injury pain. The pain should cease after 1 to 2 days for most people, but if it persists for more than a month, tell the dentist who performed the procedure. Also, ask what kind of pain you should be expecting after your procedure. This will help you know how to deal with the pain afterward.

If you have any concerns about your dental procedure, you can visit us in our offices to understand how the dentist will perform the operation. Our doctors are qualified and will ensure you are relaxed throughout the procedure.
