Sensitivity to Temperature
One of the first indicators of a loose filling is increased sensitivity to hot or cold foods and drinks. When a filling is securely in place, it acts as a barrier, insulating the tooth's nerve from temperature changes. But, when it starts to come loose, gaps can form between the filling and the tooth. Food Impaction

Has the filling shrunk or pulled away from the tooth? These visual cues can be subtle, but they're worth paying attention to.
