What Makes Me Require a Sinus Lift?

Posted on 6/5/2023 by Evan
What Makes Me Require a Sinus Lift?A sinus lift may be an option if you have a problem with your upper jaw's bone structure. You will find your sinus cavity behind the cheekbones and on top of one's first row of teeth. If the patient's teeth are in good condition, the natural roots of each tooth extend into the sinuses of the skull.

Tooth loss can lead to deterioration of the upper jawbone in this location, leaving only a thin strip of tissue separating this area from the sinus cavities. Dentists conduct a sinus lift on these patients to restore bone density in the affected area.

As the small layer of tissue between your jawbone and the rest of your body recede. The bone from a donor or a synthetic material used by your dentist stimulates bone formation. Having enough upper jawbone density from a sinus lift allows patients to have dental implants.

Based on Those Factors, You May Need to Have Your Sinuses Lifted.

Pre-surgery with a sinus lift may benefit patients who want dental implants but have one or more of the following issues. When the sinus cavity is close to the jaw may interfere with the implants; bone loss is a side effect of tooth Gum disease related to bone loss.

Other reasons are bone is inherently less dense in this location, making it more susceptible to tooth loss than other parts of the mouth. Congenital disabilities or other disorders that result in a decrease in bone mass

Before your dental implants can be placed, we can tell if you need a sinus lift. A complete examination of your mouth is performed at the initial consultation. It includes taking X-rays to get a clear picture of what lies beneath the surface of your mouth, as well as determining how near your sinus canals are to the bone. Start by calling our office now to schedule your first sinus lift appointment.
